MINUTES – DINNER H

 

MINUTES OF DINNER MEETING held 7 August 1982 at Gillis Farm, West Paradise, N. S.

 

GUEST SPEAKER: David Jones

 

Appetizer: Quiche Au Bois (Mr. Wood [with a nod to “the Wife”])

 

Mr. Bagg, on behalf of the Society, gave the congratulatory toast to Mr. Gillis, commemorating the occasion of his impending marriage.  The Society presented Mr. Gillis with a matched set of one dozen official Funipendulous Beer Vessels.

 

The Society then toasted Mr. Macleod's newly-installed dentition.

 

Soup: Gazpacho ‘82 (Mr. Flute)

 

Address to the Society: Mr. Jones presented a most interesting speech, entitled “Nuclear War and State Policy -- the New Soviet View”. This was the maiden presentation of this speech, which has subsequently

been forwarded to the Powers Of Ottawa (POOs) with a footnote to this effect. The presentation was followed by considerable lively discussion among all members and the Guest Speaker.

 

Fish: Freshly-caught Bay of Fundy Great White Shark, poached in butter, rosemary, dill seed and mushrooms (Mr. Gillis), with steamed green and yellow string beans with Lemon butter (Mr. Lemon)

 

Salad: Maste Khiar [cucumber and yoghurt salad] (Mr. Bagg)

 

Meat: Tournedos Rossini Variant [tenderloin with pate, mushroom caps and a port wine sauce] (Mr. Macleod), with steamed broccoli and boiled new potatoes (Mr. Lemon)

 

Dessert: Strawberry-Lime Cream Cake (Mr. Smith)

 

Breakfast the next morning included orange juice, toasted English muffins, bacon, scrambled eggs, home fried potatoes, sausages, and smoked cod in cream sauce (Mr. Bagg and Mr. Wood)

 

During breakfast, Mr. Macleod presented the Second Annual State Of The Province/State Of The Society Address, which provided the usual food for thought and thoughts for the foolish.
