CANAPES were served by Mr. Lemon, consisting of assorted crackers, an unusual but most interesting Pickled Herring Dip, and deep fried breaded halibut, served with lemon wedges.

Following the canapes, the members were seated at the table, where Ms. Launder presented a fascinating, informative, and highly entertaining discourse on "Women and Gastronomy".

SOUP was then served by Mr. Wood. This was a Spinach Soup, made with butter, garlic, spices and thick cream, served hot.

Mr. Macleod then served a course of Crabmeat in Ham, garnished with parsley, and accompanied very nicely by Mr. Bagg's turnips in cheese and cream sauce.

Mr. Lemon then served a Spinach Salad, with hard-boiled eggs and bacon bits, seasoned with a home-made dressing made by Mr. Gillis.

During the salad course, Mr. Smith presented a paper, illustrated with coloured slides, on the reconstruction of the Richmond ("Hydrostone") District of Halifax.

Mr. Flute then served Boeuf Bourgignon au Flute, simmered and served with onion, garlic, shallots, carrots, burgundy wine and cognac. This was accompanied nicely by Mr. Bagg's Baked Stuffed Potato and Parboiled Carrots Julienne.

Finally, the dinner was admirably capped off by Mr. Gillis' Butterscotch Dumplings with Whipped Cream, served hot.

Following the meal, liqueurs were served. Typed copies of both papers were received by the Chairman of Proceedings following the meal.
